Townsville Orchid Society
Townsville Orchid Society was formed in 1947 and is one of the longest-running Orchid Societies in Australia. We are one of a limited number of Orchid Societies who own our own hall.
We regret the Hall is now not available for hire.
Meetings
Monthly General Meetings and monthly Novice/New Grower Meetings are held from 1pm on the fourth Sunday of each month (except December) at our hall at:
Joe Kirwan Park, Charles Street, Kirwan (in the block between Bamford Lane and Thuringowa Drive).
Our March 2025 General Meeting will be held from 1pm Sunday 23rd March.
Orchid Shows
Three Orchid Shows are held at our hall each year, in Autumn, Winter and Spring.
The 2025 Autumn Orchid Show
- will be held from Friday 4th April to Sunday 6th April 2025.
Orchids and other plants are for sale in conjunction with our Orchid Shows.
Membership of Townsville Orchid Society
New members are always welcome. It is not necessary to be a member to attend our Novice/New Growers meetings, though membership will be suggested after a few visits!
Membership of the Townsville Orchid Society is currently $20 per year for family membership. This includes a monthly newsletter plus the chance to attend our monthly meetings and other events held regularly, such as bus trips, shade house visits, etc.

Our monthly meetings feature a speaker talking on some aspect of orchid culture to help you increase your knowledge of orchids and help you to grow and flower your orchids. There are also regular talks aimed specifically at novice growers to help them quickly increase their knowledge.
As a member of the Townsville Orchid Society, you also have full access to our library, which contains many orchid books and magazines. In addition, you gain access to the collective knowledge of our members to assist you with acquiring and growing your orchids.
